Interview the 100 Humanitarians International Team!

We have been asked to present on different podcasts, vlogs, and radio shows about the work that we are doing in Kenya. Scott and Becky Mackintosh host “Life in 22 Minutes“, Lori Lee hosts “Love Your Story“. On Life in 22 Minutes, they hosted Moses and Heidi in a two part series about the life and culture of the Maasai. On Love Your Story, Heidi talked about the underwear project in Kenya for the rescue centers and street women.

On February 7, 2018, 100 Humanitarians International was featured on KUTV as the recipients of the Mountain American Pay it Forward award. We met at And Sew On where the filming took place, and we talked about the underwear pattern that Marissa Waldrop created. They then joined us at a sew-a-thon, where we were able to assemble 67 pairs of underwear in one day for the rescue center in Kenya we are supporting. They also donated $500 to us, and we used the funds for 50 Days for Girls kits that we had made and distributed in Kenya.

In the Fall of 2017, Moses and Heidi met Alex Boye at a concert, and after talking for a while, Alex invited Moses to be a part of his video Promised Land, which debuted on December 27, 2917. We met up on October 22nd and spent the day filming, including going downtown and walking a potbelly pig around Temple Square in Salt Lake City. We had a lot of interest…in the pig! Amazingly, no one seemed phased by two Africans wearing traditional Maasai clothing. We ended up at A Taste of Kenya, the fundraising event we hosted that night at Club 90, and wrapped up filming. It was a really fun day!

In the Fall of 2017, we created a documentary about 100 Humanitarians International on an expedition. We talked about the power of 100 people working together, the Emparnat Cultural Center, and how we have grown so quickly. In the video, we interviewed members of our Kenyan team, and show some of the projects that we were working on at the time. Things have changed and expanded so much since then, and we hope to do another documentary soon!

But, she also shares interviews with Olympians and incredible athletes, life coaches, therapists, and people who are changing the world – most often these two categories are one and the same. She has a master’s degree in Folklore–her research focuses on the personal narrative. She is the author of six books and over 100 magazine and newspaper articles, including her latest, L.I.F.E. – Living Intentional and Fearless Every Day. She consults with individuals on a personal and business level in helping them find their stories, reframe the ones that are holding them back, and manage the stories they currently tell themselves in order to create the story they personally want to live.

Life in 22 Minutes

Scott and Becky are a bit fanatical about the number “2”, actually it’s Scott who is more of the number 2 fanatic and Becky just plays along to keep her husband happy.  The husband and wife duo are the parents of 7 grown children, 7 grandchildren and have been married for 33 years but have known each other since elementary school. Now, that’s a long time. So what’s so significant about the number 22? Scott said it began as a young boy whose favorite color was blue. Growing up he played a lot of pool and the blue ball was the number 2, so it seemed only logical that his favorite number be 2. Makes perfect sense. Right? As Scott grew older he realized nothing could possibly be as lucky as two 2’s, therefore the number 22 became his addiction, I mean favorite number.  It was the number on the back of his baseball jersey and the number he searched for in everything and anything. Scott and Becky were even married on the 22nd of September. Listen to the first episode of Life in 22 Minutes to hear what he gave his wife Becky for their 22nd anniversary, ten years prior to the very day this podcast launched on September 22nd 2016 of course!
