I'm guessing this is not where you would like your water to come from, and neither would I. I've visited dozens of these springs over the years, and thanks to amazing donations from Jonathan and Alicia Decker at Mended Light, and our expedition fundraising, we've been able to protect 15 of them so far, reaching around 15,000 people with clean water.
Clean water is a big deal, and many communities are not in a place where boreholes can be drilled. Either the water table is too low and it requires a large and expensive rig, or they are simply too remote to get to.
In those situations, we have two options - find springs to protect, and provide tanks for rainwater capture.
We've provided thousands of tanks along with protecting the springs. Believe it or not, it's far more cost effective to protect the springs. We can reach more people that way, and the water is more consistent.
Which brings me back to the springs. Our amazing October 2023 expedition team has so far raised the funds to protect one of the four springs in Litein. We would like to do 3 more by the end of the year, to give these women the ability to access clean water. Our garden tower teams are working on reaching them with the towers, so that they can grow their own food. Without a better water source, that will be a big challenge.
If everyone reading this donates $10, we can finish the rest of the springs! And, we will show you the results of your donation before the end of the year. Are you in? I'll kick it off with my donation!
