How does a Garden Tower work?
A Garden Tower is a 4-foot-tall cylindrical column of soil. Vegetables are planted into windows cut around the column, so a single tower's footprint (about one square meter) supports up to 120 plants growing vertically.
Because the soil is packed into one compact column, less water runs off or evaporates than in a flat garden bed, so a tower uses about 30% less water.
Why do Garden Towers matter in Kenya?
Many of the families 100 Humanitarians serves face seasonal food shortages and rising market produce prices. A Garden Tower turns a small patch of land beside a home into a year-round source of fresh greens, dramatically reducing reliance on weather and markets.
How many Garden Towers has 100 Humanitarians built?
Nearly 28,000 across Kenya (the exact live count is on our home page), with 50+ added in a single month in April 2026 alone. Live counts and family stories are published regularly on the Stories page.
How can I fund a Garden Tower?
$25 funds one tower, including materials, soil, seedlings, and the training session for the family. Donate at donate.100humanitarians.org, or build one in person on a Humanitarian Expedition + Safari + Cultural Immersion trip.
