    Heidi Totten in Kenya

    The honest part

    Two struggles. One steady answer.

There are two stories happening at once, Heidi's, and the families she serves. Both carry a weight you can lift.

    What Heidi carries

    The outside struggle

Hours pulled away from families in Kenya, spent writing one more appeal, chasing one more grant, keeping the lights on for one more month.

    The inside struggle

Knowing the need is bigger than the budget, and choosing, every single week, which mother waits, which school year gets delayed, which spring stays unprotected.

    What the families carry

    The outside struggle

Three-hour walks for water. Empty pantries between seasons. A daughter home from school because there are no pads. A clinic too far to reach in time.

    The inside struggle

The quiet weight of wondering if anyone outside the village even knows their name, and the fear that their children will inherit the same exhaustion they did.

    Your part in the story

You're the hero of both stories.

When you become a monthly partner, Heidi stops chasing the next dollar, and a family in Kenya stops waiting their turn. One steady gift. Two struggles lifted.

The mother kneeling in the dirt with seedlings in her hands will never know your name. But her year-round food, her daughter's school days, her clean water, those will know it forever.

Steady giving = steady work = generations changed.

Mercy and her son Vincent standing in front of the home Vincent built for his family in Kenya

Mercy and her son Vincent, in front of the home Vincent built for his parents.

    Mercy's story · 10 years

From $1 a day in a vegetable field to a family standing on its own.

Ten years ago, we met Mercy on an expedition. She was cutting vegetables in someone else's field for $1 a day, trying to hold her family together. Her son Vincent had just been sent home from school , his fees were behind.

We partnered with Mercy: Garden Towers, chickens, and goats so the food and income were hers. We sponsored Vincent back into school. Freed from the field, Mercy learned to sew and began earning a real wage stitching HopeKits, reusable feminine hygiene kits for other girls in Kenya. She proudly told us she could pay the rest of her children's school fees herself.

Vincent graduated high school, joined 100 Humanitarians to build Garden Towers, and managed the project for 200 families. He went on to earn a certificate in Construction Technology, and used those skills to build his parents the home you see here.

Ten years later, all of Mercy's children are in school, she is supporting them on her own, and generational poverty has ended for their family.

That's what a monthly partner makes possible, quietly, family by family.

What your monthly gift adds up to

A year of giving, turned into real things, for real families.

Slide to your monthly amount. We'll show one way that gift could be put to work over a year in Kenya.

    Your monthly gift

    $10/ month

    = $120 across the year.

    Give $10/month

Over one year, that could provide

    • 2×100L rainwater tanks

      $30

    • 1×HopeKits

      $20

    • 1×Literacy & financial-skills kits

      $20

    • 1×Garden Towers (feeds a family of 5)

      $25

    • 1×Thermal Cookers

      $25

School fees, school supplies, dental care, and spring protection vary in cost, your monthly gift contributes to those too.

This is one example of how a gift could be deployed. Heidi and her Kenyan team direct each dollar to where it's most needed that month, and report back to you.

Prefer to give once a year instead? A single annual gift of $120 does the exact same work.

    The plan

    Three steps. That's it.

    Step 1

    Become a monthly partner

Start at $10/month, or any amount that fits. It only takes a minute.

    Heidi does the work

She and her team in Kenya design, deliver, and follow up on every project.

    Step 3

    You get the reports

Real updates from the field, who was served, what was built, what comes next.

    Sustainable Food

Garden Towers, chicken businesses, and goats, protein and produce a family can count on.

    • Garden Towers

Feeds a family of 5 fresh vegetables year-round and produces enough surplus to sell at market for steady income.

    • Chicken Businesses

We start a family with 5 hens to breed and raise, within a year that flock multiplies into daily eggs for protein and weekly income from sales, often the first reliable cash a mother has ever earned.

    • Goats

A breeding pair provides milk for the children and offspring to sell or pass on, a living savings account that grows each year.

    Give to Sustainable Food

    Clean Water

From household tanks to protected springs, water that arrives where it's needed.

    • 100L Tanks

Gives a family clean rainwater at the door, ending the 3-hour daily walk so girls stay in school and mothers can work.

    • 1,000L Tanks

Stores enough water through the dry season for a household to drink, cook, and keep a Garden Tower thriving year-round.

    • Spring Protection

Turns a contaminated water source into safe drinking water for an entire village, cutting waterborne illness for hundreds of families at once.

    Give to Clean Water

    Education

School fees, supplies, and literacy programs, from primary all the way through college.

    • School Fees

Keeps a student in the classroom for a full year, the single biggest predictor that the next generation breaks the poverty cycle.

    • Supplies

Uniforms, shoes, and books mean a child can actually show up and learn instead of being sent home, dignity that opens every other door.

    • Literacy Programs

Teaches mothers English and financial literacy so they can run a small business, manage household money, and help their kids with homework.

    Give to Education

    Health

Reusable HopeKits, fuel-saving HopeSaC Thermal Cookers, and our Dental Clinic.

    • HopeKit Reusable Feminine Hygiene

Gives a girl back the 5 days a month she'd otherwise miss school, three years of education recovered over her school life.

    • HopeSaC Thermal Cookers

Cuts cooking fuel and time by up to 80%, freeing women from hours spent hunting firewood and from the smoke that damages their lungs and their children's.

    • Dental Clinic

Provides affordable care that prevents infections, lost school days, and the chronic pain that quietly steals a family's energy and income.

    Give in someone's honor

Birthdays, anniversaries, in memory of someone you love, a Garden Tower or HopeKit in their name, with a note sent to them.

    Check your employer match

Many companies double, or even triple, what you give. Five minutes with HR can turn $10/month into $20 or $30 a month for Kenya.

Search your company's match policy under 100 Humanitarians International (EIN 47-1733825).

$10 a month is about two coffees.

In Kenya, it's a Garden Tower that feeds a family of five.

    Same money. Wildly different outcome.
