Where Does My Donation Go? How Much Actually Reaches Kenya

100% of your gift moves our mission forward: Zeffy charges nonprofits zero platform fees. See exactly what $15, $25, $150 and $1,000 buy for families in Kenya.

    Quick Answer

Donations to 100 Humanitarians International are processed through Zeffy, a donation platform that charges nonprofits no platform fee and no transaction fee, so 100% of the amount you give reaches the organization. Gifts are then directed to the program you choose — Sustainable Food, Clean Water, Education, or Health — and spent on specific, countable items: a $25 garden tower, a $15 HopeKit, a $150 rainwater tank, a $1,000 protected spring.

    • Zeffy charges nonprofits zero platform and transaction fees, so 100% of your gift reaches 100 Humanitarians.
    • You choose the program: Sustainable Food, Clean Water, Education, or Health.
    • Gifts convert into countable items — towers, tanks, HopeKits, school terms — not vague overhead.
    • 501(c)(3) nonprofit, EIN 82-1048388. U.S. gifts are tax-deductible to the extent allowed by law.
    • Annual Form 990 filings and financial summaries are published publicly.

How much of my donation is eaten by fees?

None of it, at the platform level. Our donation forms run on Zeffy, which is free for nonprofits — no platform fee, no per-transaction processing cut taken from your gift. When you give $25, $25 arrives.

Zeffy funds itself by asking donors — optionally — to add a voluntary contribution at checkout. That tip is yours to set, including to zero. It does not change how much of your donation reaches us.

What does my donation actually buy?

We size our programs so that a gift maps to a physical thing a family receives, rather than to a percentage of a budget:

    • $15 — a HopeKit that keeps a girl in school for two to three years.
    • $25 — one garden tower, feeding a family of five fresh vegetables year-round.
    • $30 — a thermal cooker that cuts a household's firewood use dramatically.
    • $150 — a 1,000-liter rainwater capture system serving 50 to 100 people.
    • $1,000 — a protected spring serving 500 to 1,000 people for decades.

You can give to any of these directly on the donate page.

Can I choose which program my gift funds?

Yes. Each of our five pillars — Sustainable Food, Clean Water, Education, Health, and Economic Opportunities — has its own donation form. Choosing one directs your gift to that program. If you'd rather we put it where the need is sharpest that month, use the general fund instead; that is what we lean on for repairs, transport, and the unglamorous costs that make the visible work possible.

Who decides how the money is spent in Kenya?

Program spending is planned with our Kenyan directors, who live in the communities they serve and know which family is next on the list. That is also why monthly giving matters more than its size suggests: a predictable monthly total lets a director commit to a build schedule instead of waiting to see what arrives.

How can I verify any of this myself?

Our 501(c)(3) status and EIN 82-1048388 are searchable on the IRS Tax Exempt Organization Search. Our annual filings and financial summaries are posted on our financials page, and the fuller trust breakdown — leadership, history, programs — lives at Is 100 Humanitarians legit?

If a number you want isn't published, ask us for it. We would rather answer than have you guess.
